Mathew Mitchell

Mathew Mitchell is a multifaceted medical student and biotech entrepreneur, bridging the gap between medical innovation, technology, and translational research. His journey, fueled by a personal encounter with the dire consequences of antibiotic resistance, led to the inception of Organicin Scientific. As a co-founder of Organicin, Mathew has pioneered the development of bacteriocin-based solutions with an emphasis on microbiome modulation, earning the Better Environment award at the UN's FAO World Food Forum for his contributions in combating antibiotic resistance and promoting food availability.

His academic journey is marked by leadership as the Vice President of his class at Georgetown University while pursuing his MS in Physiology and Biophysics, which he sought after earning his BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UMass Amherst. Mathew's commitment to medical innovation is further evidenced by his second-place win at UPenn's PennHealthX Clinic of the Future Competition and his role in the DrExcel and Sling Health medical device innovation competition, where he is developing an ultrasound-guided chemo port locator with a team of biomedical engineers.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mathew fosters a vibrant community of nearly seventy members as a founder and president of DUCOM's "BRÜCOM," a beer brewing and fermentation club, showcasing his passion for blending science with social enrichment. His work is underpinned by numerous publications, presentations, and a dedication to advancing society through innovation. Above all, Mathew is motivated by the conviction that large-scale impactful change is driven by the strategic application of groundbreaking innovations in science and medicine.
